Professional Photographer
Christopher Renaud
Chris’s journey into photography and the media industry began during his high school days when he enrolled in his school’s photography class. This initial spark of interest in photography eventually grew into a full-fledged passion for capturing images.
His dedication to learning led him to volunteer at his local television station, where he eagerly soaked up knowledge about both operating cameras and video editing. This hands-on experience laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the field.
In his spare time, Chris explored his hometown in eastern Ontario, using his DSLR camera to capture the beauty of nature and the charm of old buildings. This not only honed his photography skills but also deepened his love for the art of visual storytelling.
Even after high school, Chris continued his volunteer work at the television station, expanding his expertise to include live broadcasts, conducting interviews, and working on graphics. These skills propelled him into the world of film, where he had the opportunity to work both behind and in front of the camera in the city of Ottawa.
Drawing from his on-set experiences, Chris ventured into indie filmmaking in his hometown. Collaborating with friends, they produced four short films together. Chris’s talent extended beyond acting and directing, as he also wrote shorts for other filmmakers, contributing to projects like “The Long Road” and “The Apparition.”
Throughout his career, Chris remained active in the media industry, lending his editing skills to friends and offering support in writing and shooting. However, his true passion remained in photography, especially when he relocated to Calgary, where he began specializing in headshots and portrait photography. A significant turning point came when Chris moved to British Columbia and decided to take a break from photography to pursue a career as an Emergency First Responder. This change in direction was driven by a personal experience with PTSD, and he discovered that engaging in creative endeavors was therapeutic for his condition. To rekindle his creative spirit, Chris started experimenting with drone photography, capturing breathtaking aerial perspectives. This renewed passion eventually brought him back to his old DSLR camera, which he traded in for a Mirrorless camera, staying up to date with evolving technology. Today, Chris finds immense satisfaction in working with clients to fulfill their portrait photography needs. His journey from high school photography classes to volunteering in media, working in film, and finally embracing photography once more demonstrates his unwavering dedication to visual storytelling and creative expression

I saw a shot that Christopher posted and immediately asked to buy it. He quickly organized a high resolution transfer for a fair price, and it is now printed on a canvas and a beautiful addition to our home.
